Living the Mission and Values National Awards

The Ascension Health Living the Mission and Values National Award was established to recognize and honor the people and programs recommended by our associates for their dedication and commitment to our Mission and Values.

Selection Process

The invitation to submit nominations for one person, one program, and one organizational component was sent out across Ascension Health. The Ascension Health Selection Committee then chose the "best of the best" to receive the awards. Winners were chosen based on the following criteria:

Demonstrates a commitment to living the Mission and Values

Inspires others to embrace the Mission and Values by support, encouragement and challenges

Acts to enhance the organizational responsiveness to live the Mission and Values

2003 Winners

Lourdes Hospital Youth Services Department
Binghamton, NY

In 1996, Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton created the Lourdes Youth Services Department, a program designed to make a positive difference in the lives of children, their families, and the community.

GreenHouse Gathering Place
Saginaw, MI

The GreenHouse Gathering Place, located in Saginaw's Cathedral District, is designed to "grow" a stronger, safer, and healthier community. By incorporating a gardening project, laundry facilities, a staff nurse, and a safe home away from home, the GreenHouse Gathering Place has become a positive influence in an area where negativism runs rampant.

Kathleen Kendzierski

Kathleen (Kathy) Kendzierski is an LPN, a faithful Catholic, and an angel lady. Of course, all these things make her special to St. John Hospital in Detroit, but it's the "angel lady" aspect that sets her apart.

Diana Resnik

As Vice President of Community Care for SETON Healthcare Network, Diana Resnik is a living embodiment of the Mission and Values. It is her constant drive, can-do attitude, and exceptional creativity that have led countless initiatives to assist the underserved in ways that are generous, respectful, and affirming.
