Efforts to Help Restore Healthcare Services in New Orleans

In October 2007, the American College of Surgeons (ACS), as part of its "Operation Giving Back" volunteerism initiative, coordinated "Project New Orleans." "Project New Orleans" was an effort to assist in the demolition of a portion of a former school building that will become the new location for Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans' St. Cecilia Health Center that currently serves New Orleans' Bywater and Ninth Ward neighborhoods. The health center, currently operating in a portion of a former church building, intends to relocate in 2008 to the former school building on the same campus. The demolition was a huge success. We are grateful to ACS and to Habitat for Humanity for their wonderful support.
