Scott Caldwell serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Resource Group, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ascension. In this role, he is responsible for guiding resource and supply management strategy and operations, including those for the group purchasing organization.

Mr. Caldwell has more than 27 years of successful supply chain leadership and an extensive background in supply chain logistics, contracting, complex operating room delivery systems, cost/process controls and cost/use reduction efforts with physician preference items. Additional accomplishments include success in corporate restructuring, business development and customer satisfaction.

At Ascension Health, Mr. Caldwell has led the establishment of talent development programs to recruit talented university students and introduce them to the healthcare industry. These programs include internships, work/study opportunities, and a leadership development program. He was elected to Berea College’s board of trustees in February 2012. Berea was founded in 1855 as the first interracial and coeducational college in the South, and admits only academically promising students, primarily from Appalachia and from other countries representing a rich diversity of colors, cultures and faiths. At Berea, one in three students’ represents an ethnic minority with limited economic resources.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Caldwell served as a Director and National Practice Leader of supply chain consulting with Deloitte Consulting LLP, one of the top-ranked management consulting firms in the world. He also has served in a senior leadership capacity at McKesson Corporation, the leading provider of healthcare supply, information and care management products; Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, the largest healthcare consultancy in the country; and a leading manufacturer of disposable surgical products and supply chain delivery systems for the operating room.

Mr. Caldwell began his career at the Hyatt Regency Corporation while attending the University of Tennessee where he earned his bachelor’s degree in general management in 1985 and his master’s degree in business administration in 1999. He was selected by his peers and faculty of the University of Tennessee as the Professional MBA “Leader of the Year.”
